A Special Message from Amy Aldus, CST:

The latest update on this bill is that it has passed unanimously through the House and has been moved into the Senate.

There will be another public hearing to the Senate Healthcare Committee on Monday 2/21 @ 1pm. If you are interested in attending the livestream, click here.

If you would like to submit written testimony electronically, click here, or to register to testify live remotely, click here. If you would like to testify live remotely let me know and I will put you in contact with the AST (Association of Surgical Technologists) lobbyists that we’ve been working with. They can help refine your testimony to have the most impact.

I will plan to testify once again and will keep you updated as I continue to find out information. Please feel free to pass along to anyone you think may be interested in this issue.

I have attached the original House bill 2876 that passed in 2015, limiting Surgical Technologists to graduating from accredited programs and obtaining certification as requisites for employment (there are exceptions of course), the proposed amendment to that bill HB 4106 allowing for apprenticeship training and a promotional flyer that is being circulated to gain support. Please let me know if you would like any additional information.
